Rose Cafe is a hidden gem! I've ordered dinner from them a few times now and their cafe food is DELICIOUS and worth the money for the portions! They don't skimp on anything and the food is always tasty and fresh. I love that they are open late since so many places (besides fast food) close at or before 8 these days. It's perfect for nights that I have a late class and need something hearty that i can easily pick up on my way home. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
A place where service and food are good! I got hit with early AM coffee & breakfast burrito cravings and decided to stop here since they have both. I arrived right when they opened and knew what I wanted to order, an Iced Vietnamese Coffee and Steak & Egg Burrito. I walked in and approached the register where the friendly worker asked if I needed help. I placed my order and patiently waited outside. Not long after, the worker found me outside and gave me my coffee, then a few short minutes after that found me once more to give me my food :'). Talk about service, and with a smile! I strolled over to my workplace down the street and opened the to-go container with my burrito, and stuck a straw in my coffee cup. I was ready. How was it? - Iced Vietnamese Coffee: Somewhat strong and a little more bitter than sweet, it tasted good. Small crushed ice allowed plenty of room so that the coffee to ice ratio was balanced. - Steak & Egg Burrito: This burrito had eggs, sliced beef, hash brown, bell peppers, onions, and cheddar cheese. Heavy, hot, and greasy. I'm not sure if the oil was from the cheese or beef, but there was quite a bit of it. Other than that it tasted pretty good. It comes with a side of salsa but I recommend getting 1 or 2 more because it was barely enough for half of the burrito. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. There's some parking in front of the business and also around the corner in the same plaza. Two spots in front are reserved for pickup orders. I've had the Grilled Chicken Wrap from here before and it was also good. I recommend giving this place a shot!
Did not expect this little hidden cafe to churn out such a delicious breakfast burrito at nearly 9pm...not only was it very satisfying, it was also a decently sized handheld meal. We walked into what looks like a coffee shop that was right next to a hookah lounge (I believe they're associated with each other). While you do order at the register before finding seating, you may need some time to look over the menu, which includes omelettes, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and salads. They offer coffee and pastries, too. I went with a California Burrito, and it came out surprisingly quickly. It was served cut in half on a small tray lined with thin parchment paper. Seemed so simple, but it was nicely made and had each ingredient shine like our lovely California sun. Lemme just say that I really appreciated the amount of yummy protein and healthy fats wrapped in there - sausage, egg, bacon, avocado. The sour cream and melted cheese gave it an almost smooth texture while holding everything together. I liked that this burrito didn't have fries in it, and I'd totally get it again if I'm ever in the area, along with a coffee that seems to get rave reviews on Yelp. We weren't a fan of the limited seating options for a big group and the pervasive fumes from next door, but we left before things got too rowdy and smelly. The ladies who helped us were going back and forth between the shops but did their best to accommodate the influx of customers. Parking directly in front of the cafe was small, but the lot connects to others used for the nearby restaurants.
When my daughter and I were visiting from out of town we went two times. The food is delicious and the donuts on the weekends are even better! A must visit! It's a quaint little place but amazing with terrific service and attention to detail!
Perfect breakfast, brunch, or lunch spot if you're looking for a dog friendly patio to eat at. There were 4 dogs besides ours that came through during the time we were there. Plenty of open tables at around 9am on a Sunday, too. Staff was very friendly, and the food came out fairly quickly and piping hot. The fried zucchini was a bit disappointing with mushy zucchini insides that also seemed much smaller than the fried putter part. The Chef's breakfast burrito was good for what it was, but I will definitely try one of the more traditional ingredient ones next time. Their chai latte is on the sweet side, but very flavorful with lots of spice.
Went here on a date, vibe is cool Food is portioned well here too. Like big portions for what you pay I got the veggie sandwich and man was it yummy Service is okay just because there is a hookah lounge and it can get pretty hectic and busy. But it wasn't that busy for us and we still struggled to get some service. Nonetheless I'd go back vibes and food are great!
I came here for breakfast with a friend today. It's a cute little place kind of tucked back, but the service is great, and the food was awesome! The portions were really big (you could share with someone if you wanted and still get a good amount of food). There is really nice covered outdoor seating, which makes the ambiance very pleasant. I will be coming back and bringing my husband! I highly recommend this place
This place popped up in a Yelp email of notable outdoor seating restaurants in Lake Forest, so I decided to give it a try. I didn't realize until after I ordered that they have a full service menu, and not just what's listed on the board behind the counter when you walk in. Even so, I thought their club sandwich was hearty and high quality. Plus, the staff was all helpful and friendly. The outdoor seating area is fine, but I'd recommend sitting in the tented area to get out of the sun, and to prevent yourself from being blocked off by the parking lot. I chose to sit directly in front of the entrance, and I won't be doing that again next time. Everything else about Rose Cafe was pleasant!
It is easy to drive pass Rose Cafe on Lake Forest Drive and not noticing it, but if that's you, you are missing a wonderful eatery in the Northern part of Lake Forest. I have been coming to Rose Cafe several times every month for years. I usually get something from the weekly specials menu that comes with a free drink. I have tried omelettes, sandwiches, burritos, and breakfast plates. If you order a salad, just beware the portion is huge. It is a great place to eat. Services here is outstanding. For a small family owned joint, it usually has 2 people taking orders and 3 waiting staff, while the line goes out of the door. It serves American food during breakfast and lunch hours and closes at 3pm. It then opens in the evening serving Lebanese food when the hookah lounge is open.
